Flipkart is India's leading e-commerce marketplace and one of the largest in the world. Founded in 2007, Flipkart was acquired by Walmart in 2018 for $16 billion, the largest e-commerce acquisition in history at the time. With over 150 million registered users, 500,000+ sellers, and a valuation exceeding $37.6 billion, Flipkart dominates India's digital commerce landscape. The platform processes millions of transactions daily and has revolutionized how India shops online.
Flipkart wanted to enter the Web3 space and create a unique loyalty program that would engage their massive user base in new ways. They needed a partner who could build a scalable NFT platform that could handle their traffic while making blockchain technology accessible to mainstream users who had never interacted with crypto before.
We built Firedrops, a gamified NFT loyalty platform integrated directly into Flipkart's ecosystem. Our solution included custom wallet infrastructure that abstracted away blockchain complexity, an NFT minting system capable of handling millions of users, gamification mechanics including mystery boxes and collectibles, and seamless integration with Flipkart's existing rewards system.
The platform successfully onboarded tens of thousands of users to Web3, many experiencing blockchain for the first time. The gamified approach drove high engagement rates, and the infrastructure proved capable of handling Flipkart-scale traffic without issues.
